Root Cause Found "System volume on disk is corrupt"
Hello I am in a bit of jiffy here.
Today when I tried to start up my computer everything started out well, Bios started, checked to see what I have plugged in for CD and Hard-drive(so just normal stuff), but when It started up windows it automatically took me Startup Repair. This was unusual though as this has happened before I though it would run it's course and start up after not actually detecting any problems.
I checked back after 3 hours later to see it still trying to "Attempting Repairs"
So i restarted the computer and when the repair started again I clicked cancel and went into a few more options (open command, start from a different point in time, Windows memory Diagnostics, etc.) and ran the Windows memory diagnostics tool. After a few minutes it was done but didn't give me any information.
Computer restarted so I cancelled the scan again. This time I went to diagnostic and repair details. Every test says the same thing completed successfully. Error code = 0x0, and t the end it comes up with this Root cause found: System volume on disk is corrupt.
After It told me the root cause I did what most people do and went to see if I could find a fix
Trying sfc /scannow came up with "There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete. Restart Windows and run sfc again.
trying chkdsk c: /f /r gave me a different error "Failed to transfer local logged messages to the event log status 50."
It also states "Windows has checked the file system and found no problems." And also shows that there is no memory usage by bad sectors
I am running windows 7 Home Premium and still have the original install disk (as I custom built the PC)
The current Hard-drive is slightly over 2 years old and has not given me any problems like this before. Make is a seagate currently trying to find the box which it came in for more information of which type.
This Hard drive contains quite a bit of Information that I would rather not lose(quite a bit of it is games and as I have satellite internet and a 50gb download limit a month re-downloading all of it is not really an option.)
Any help is appreciated, Thanks.
