Another option would be to use the bootable CD of Partition Wizard and wipe that secondary disk.

Free download Magic Partition Manager Software, partition magic alternative, free partition magic, partition magic Windows 7 and server partition software - Partition Wizard Online

Your hard drive is showing all the signs of a dead or dying drive.

I think Steve is right. There is more damage than just a formatting problem. That is also indicated by the BIOS hanging on it. You probably have to cut your losses.

That is good news. Amazing that PW could deal with it where the BIOS and Linux cannot. I think we are going to learn something from that case.

I agree, that's quite strange. I know PW can do some things few other programs can, but I've not seen this before. I guess we will never know, but I would like to know the cause.

I'am happy to report that the entire disk has been cleaned, and i can now not only boot windows with the secondary hard drive plugged, but i can actually see it in disk management. Also the surface test turned up all green, no errors whatsoever. Thank you so much guys, not only did you guys get my hard drive working but you also got my computer to boot faster than it did before because of the new ahci transfer mode for sata hard drives, which is a nice bonus. Thanks again and may the force be with you. :)

Glad to hear that. Looks like you are a happy camper now. Maybe you want to mark the thread as 'solved'.
