Uninstalled USB and now can not log on since keyboard will not work

Having issue with SD card and USB SD card reader not being recognized. Have been trying to update drivers and after tying to update drivers I uninstalled the USB hoping Windows would reinstall upon reboot. Now I can not log in as the keyboard and mouse no longer function. I do get the keyboard to work initially when entering safe mode but gone once drivers load and window login appears. How do I get USB keyboard and mouse to function from this point?

Check in the bios for usb legacy enabled. If your box has both usb 2 and usb 3 sockets, try using usb 2 for the kb. I had a similar problem recently during a Windows install - the mouse + kb worked in the uefi bios, but not during install. Turned out I was plugged into a usb 3 socket. Swapping sockets allowed me to proceed with the install. I guess usb 3 needs the driver.

Thanks 3D Jed, I am able to log on now and use kb and mouse but still have not been able to regain the other USB port use for mouse and kb. Also still have SD card not being recognized. Next step is to go buy a backup external drive and rearrange personal data in case I have to take the box in. I trust nobody with my personal data and need to isolate it from my hard drive.
    Thanks again.

What USB did you uninstall and which are working/not working? We need more information to work with.

Can you post a screenshot of your device manager with the USB Controllers expanded. Then if you could fill in your system specs we can see what hardware you have and may be able to help you find your drivers.

I uninstalled the Generic USB Hub. There were and now are two listed I uninstalled the top one listed at that time.
My machine has two USB slots by the T1 cable connection that now work for keyboard and mouse. Although I get the audio tone when I now plug my mouse in the other USB slots it will not work in them (two added slots on back of unit by HDMI not working for mouse). Thumb drive works in every USB slot. I have two USB slots in the top of my case and two more on the front face.
SD card slot on face not functioning was the beginning of this mess.
Added more info on my system.
Again, my next step is to do some data backup before I lose anything.

Do any of your USB devices in Device Manager have a next to them?

Nothing in Device Manager shows an issue or exclamation flag.
