Hardware problem ?

I currently have my Benq monitor set to the default resolution of 1280x1024 but have changed the DPI to 120% for better viewing. Since I did that all the excel worksheets I had been working on for the past year don't appear correctly as I had meticulously set them up & saved them with the monitor set on 125% DPI . I can revert back to 120% but I want to save the files to disc for my family and want them to be able to view them in the same way I had set them up. I have tried many monitors of various sizes on my PC but with the same result. So it doesn't seem to be a monitor problem ? I thought that changing the monitors DPI would only make items appear larger or smaller not affect saved worksheet files.
There is no other setting I can find to alleviate this problem so wondering if it is a hardware problem ? Hope someone can offer some suggestions

How is it not appearing properly? Are some of your values appearing as 'xxxxxx'?

Changing DPI will make items appear larger or smaller, including "saved" files. It's not on a "file by file" basis. DPI changes should not affect a file per se, only the way in which files are displayed on your screen.

You can also adjust magnification by using the slider in the lower right corner of an Excel worksheet. The slider can be adjusted over a wide range, above and below 100%.

I think if you set that slider to say 140% on a given file and then exit Excel, when you later come back to the same file, the slider will be at the 140% position, right where you left it. So you should only have to adjust it once.

I'm so sorry I missed that bit out. with 120% dpi All the page breaks have moved down, e.g. page 2 has four lines of page 1 in it at the top and extends into page 3... then page 3 has eight lines from page 2 at the top and runs into page 4..etc.
The page is now exceeding over the edge and running out into next pages.
If I view the same pages using 125 dpi (the setting I saved the fines with) they are perfect.
That is the only problem (formulas etc are fine)

Is this a hardware or O/S problem
Is this normal for Windows 7? I recently purchased a new laptop (Dell Studio XPX16) which came pre-installed with Windows 7(64 bit). On my old laptop I used Vista (32bit) without any major issues. I duly used Dell Data safe to make a backup of my system before doing anything else. A couple...
