Laptop hard drive will NOT come out

I have 2 laptops and I'm having trouble with both of them. My Grandsons gave them to me because they had broken them.

One, a "Gateway NV 55S" is completely messed up. The screen is nothing but squiggly lines. Can't even shut it off. Hope the hard drive still works.

The other one, an "Acer Aspire 5750" works well, but the password to the administrator is lost forever and I need to put on some programs that I need desperately. Grandson can't remember his old password.

I'm want to change out hard drives. I watched a ton of videos on how to do it and in ALL of them, the hard drive is held in with 2 to 4 screws. Once removed, it can then be gently slid out. The Gateway has 2 screw holes but NO SCREWS! And it can't be slid out at all. I'm afraid to use to much force but it looks like it's time to use a 16 pound sledge hammer just to get it's attention.

Any ideas on what I need to do to get it out?

    Thank you,

Are you sure the screws arent just recessed deep in the holes surrounding the hard drive? try looking and see if there are.

    Welcome FuzzyMinded :)

I am far from a laptop expert, but just switching the HD's with each other may not work as they were set up for the particular Mfg's hardware.
Can you take & post any picks of the Gateway's problem location area ?

    Hi

Why don't you just reset the forgotten password ?.

I can clearly see the threads where the screws should go.

Thanks to all of you who took the time to reply to me.

I saw a clear plastic tab covering the HD and pulling it and pushing the other end a little bit harder than gently, it came out.

I'm hoping that switching them out works.

    Thanks again
