Graphics card burning (replaced) last night sub woofer done the same.

chances are the issue was caused by your psu. its so close to the recommended requirements of the card it was probably pulling at almost 100% the entire time.
that and it being a prebuilt computer means the psu was probably a cheap chinese jobby. (you can normally tell as theyre just a generic metal grey colour).

almost all pcs take an atx powersupply. its only in extremely small pcs and or flat cased types (where the monitor sits on top) but the fact you have a gpu means its not the case.

changing a psu isnt as hard aa youd think. a quick search on YouTube will throw up dozens of how to vids :)

Can't afford it this week but will have to get one next week and the surge protect extension lead asap, until then PC is staying off unfortunately. Unless I just unplugged the GPU for now but I couldn't handle that lmao.

That's great, tbh although this has done some costing I'm glad it didn't fry the processor or motherboard. Will order it payday Tuesday along with extension lead.. And speakers... Lol Hope to god it just has been the PSU all this time.

Bit surprised about the SubWoofer though -- how in the world can those BURN out !!! the ony way I could see is if they are fed directly from the mains / PSU and the voltage is incorrect. Simply overloading the sound output shouldn't burn them out -- might have hideous distortion (although on a sub woofer unlikely) or the vibration will damage the speaker possibly permanently.

Is it possible for a PSU to send surges to an extension lead and the hit the first thing it could through the mains in this case the sub?

you are lucky :) I once had a gpu blow while stress testing, took out all my ram and cpu with it!
back when 1gb ram was £100 and I had 4 dimms!!

buuut ebuyer were amazing and replaced it all!! even upgraded my 8880gts to a gtx as they had none in stock

Hey guys mid £60 seems to be my limit I see the 550w corsair you shown me is around that mark but so is the 650w should I go for the 650w?

650w would give you a little more future proofing, and head room for upgrades. I run the corsair hx650w modular psu and its faultless in my eyes!

PSU on its way and the anti surge extension, wouldn't know much about the extension I understand the concept but now how it works,will give it a Google. Any recommendations for 3:1 speakers? Also did anyone get a chance to look at my thread about my graphics display driver and CCC?
