Toshiba not loading windows 7 anymore, goes straight to Error screen

    Hi guys

My Toshiba Satellite C850 is not loading Windows 7 anymore. It goes straight to the error recovery boot screen. I have tried both options - launch recovery, start windows normally and also tried to boot in safe mode; no luck.

I woke up in the morning after hibernation during the night and it wasn't working.

Can anyone help me as it has my study files on there?

    Thanks guys

do you have a windows 7 cd or recovery disk? if you do pop it in and try booting, any missing or damaged files that the normal recovery process cant solve will take them off the disk.

Secondly.. WHY dont you have backups of you work if its that important!! leaving files on just 1 drive is a very BAD idea for this very reason.

admittedly even if windows was completely fubar you could take the hard drive out pop it in a caddy and then plug it into another pc and save the files from there.

from today try and consider the 3 2 1 backup method!

    3 copies
    2 formats
    1 off site location.

basically 1 on your laptop, 1 on a pen drive and 1 on an external hdd or dvd.

2 formats isnt always possible with documents but saving text to a note padfile will work.

and 1 off site location, something like cloud storage, many offer free trials or small file accounts.

this is all essential.. especially in case of fire or property theft!!

These steps may help you Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot
I would first, before anything else, back up your personal data using Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console Or you can use this Emergency Kit - save your files from a dead OS
