    keyboard functions changed after sudden shutdown

    help!

    my keyboard has suddenly changed what some keys do

    the many are fine, but the following changes occurred;

    L = mute
    n = nothing
    o = nothing
    y = q
    6 = nothing
    9 = nothing
    rctrl = lower volume
    lctrl = nothing
    left arrow = nothing
    right arrow = shift

    this seems a very odd set of changes

    i've checked my keyboard settings in control panel and it is set to qwerty

    this first occurred directly after my laptop unexpectedly cut out (without shutdown) for the second time in about half an hour, both times playing a game.

    i've scanned for viruses and come up clean.

    i've checked event log and found the following;

    - 3 like this;

    hey.

    i was playing 'sniper elite v2' which i recently got on steam

    only played it for the first time today, but since both crashes ocurred while playing it i uninstalled it

    when i said keyboard functions changed, i should be clear on the fact that i didnt mean the function keys specifically, although some of those have also swapped.

    i simply meant the role of some of the keys was now different

    stupidly ive just realised i posted this to the windows 7 forums, but im actually running windows 8.1
