Switching AHCI to IDE in Windows 8.1

I'd like to know how to switch from AHCI to IDE in Windows 8.1 Professional x64. I know there's countless threads on this but they all (all I've seen/found) are directed towards Windows 7
I actually switched from IDE to AHCI with the registry value changes and BIOS change but if I just change my BIOS options from AHCI back to IDE, Windows just gives me a boot loop.

What I've done so far is revert the registry settings back to how it was before I switched to AHCI and disable the AHCI mode via the registry keys. Doesn't work, needed to restore my Windows to an older working state. At the moment I can't find any instructions on the net about how to do this that's why I'm hoping you guys can assist.

    Kind regards.
