Nice thread. Very Detailed. I tried many of the solutions provided. I have a WD 1 TB and Active File Recovery did it for me. Thanks a lot.

    Hi sds,

    Welcome to Seven Forums.

I am glad that this thread is becoming a reference point.

In most cases where MFT is corrupted, TestDisk is not able to repair. The author of TestDisk himself knows this limitation and states "If both MFT and MFTMirr are damaged and thus cannot be repaired using TestDisk, you might want to try commercial software like Zero Assumption Recovery, GetDataBack for NTFS or Restorer 2000."

Now we shall add Active @ File Recovery to that list. (Another user had also reported this in another thread.) Thank you for the feedback.

    Hello experts.

I have read this thread and I found it very useful since I am facing exactly the same situation reported by shokan2.

Although last post on this thread was 98 days ago, I hope someone can help me:

Can anyone guide me step-by-step how to solve this using Active@File Recovery? I see it was the most effective tool to solve this problem.

    Thank you

Ah, this demo version won't allow me to extract found files because of size. So, I'll take a look at Test Disk now.

Of my options, which will give me the best chance of getting videos contained in their original folders?
Hi. After screen 4 I got 4 options

Please do not jump to this thread.

This was given to you only as a reference to read and perform the Test Disk operations as outlined here..

Please get back to your thread and post the following screenshots.

Screen 1 : Select No log - Enter

Screen 2 : Select your External Drive > Proceed Enter

    Screen 3: Select Intel Enter

screen 4: Advanced File System Utilities - Enter

    Same problem

    I'm having the same issue!

Jumanji, i followed your instructions and completed the four steps. After screen 4, i get the same screen as juliasdream gets with only: Type, Image Creation or Quit as options.

Where do I find "boot" or "List"?

    Thank you!

    Welcome to Seven Forums.

You may or may not have the same issue. Let me decide it.

Please start a new thread and explain your problem abinitio giving full details of your HDD, and a screenshot of Windows Disk Management.
