How2 fax documents from hp officejet j4580?-all is greyed out except

How does one fax documents from HP OfficeJet J4580?--all is greyed out except if images are chosen.
If I use Solution Center it will assume that my fax document is something I want to scan (Usually it isn't in my case). Why is there no other choice?
If I use 'Document Manager' under View the "View and Annotate'' is greyed out and below, the fax icon is greyed out as well.
So how does one send faxes of documents (.txt, .doc, .docx, .xlsx, ) and even pdf. All is not greyed out when it is a jpg. file
Obviously there is something I don't understand here since the likelihood of people wanting to fax an image is minimal compared to that of wanting to send an actual document.
BTW should it be of interest, the setting up of the HP did a test fax successfully so the problem would not be there.

    Thank you

Thanks to u mate as well. The driver/software package was a new install so doing this again (Which I did 3 X) is not the solution. Please note the fax program did the fax test fine. And as mentioned if it's a jpg file all is well--the image can be send/faxed out. I believe it's a software related issue somehow--why is there no problem in sending a jpg image but it gets greyed out on docx, txt, pdf. etc. In theory, though I haven't tried it, if i were to change the extension from, say txt to jpg it would be sent out (though what would be received is another question
