    Hard Drive Swap isnt visible

So recently i swapped 2 hard drives because one of them had more space on it. The new one i placed it into my pc and copied all the files from the old hdd to the new one. Without realising when i tried to reinstall windows on my other PC using the old HDD i couldnt format it, or even to try to overwrite anything on it. I tried doing all the basic windows recovery methods but later on windows wouldnt even recognise the hdd. Within disk management my hard drive is there however the hdd doesnt have any drive letter and on the hdd icon is a red arrow pointing down. Its showing my total space but its unallocated. Im trying to use something called partition recovery wizard and so far a message keeps popping up with com. management with "you must initialize a disk before logical disk manager can access". Its giving me 2 option. MBR and GPT and I read that its best to use GPT so i clicked on that but its saying that the media is write protected. I tried listing all the disk volumes within cmd to try and erase everything but there is no drive letter for the hdd which isnt going to work. Can someone assist me?
