I just bought a Logitech C170 webcam. After conencting it to various USB ports (since the first did not work), it always does the same thing. Installs a Webcam Video Driver via Windows Update, after which it says it detects the Logitech C170 webcam. I installed Logitech's official drivers and the microphone works fine, but there is no video image.

I tried reinstalling the USB Video Device in Device Manager and restarting, but to no success.

I tried uninstalling the USB Root Hubs in Device Manager and restarting, but again to no success.

I have Windows 7 64-bit version.

The Logitech support video says I should make sure it is not in a USB dock or station and not in USB 3.0 as it is known to cause problems.

I have the webcam in USB2.0 at the moment, or so I believe. it's the one with the red colors on it.

Please advise.

No, just from the official website. I will read what you gave me and get abck afterwards with the results. Thanks !

Edit: I have tried doing that but afetr I uninstall the Logitech Webcam driver Windows just installs it from Windows Update. I have sarched inD evice Manager, as Logitech mentions, but cannot find "USB Video Device". instead, I find "Webcam C170". When I try updating THAt driver and select to choose the program from a lsit, it only shows "USB Video Device" as an option.

I already saw the video. I'm starting to think the problem is that Windows automatically attempts to install its own downloaded software for the webcam instead of letting me install the original drivers from the Logitech website and after I install those they collide with each other.

Well for some reason even after I install the Logitech software, Windows continues to see it as "Webcam C170", the driver Windows dowloaded, and not as "Logitech Webcam C170".

Later edit: I tried to install it in every way possible. Accessing the Logitech install files BEFORE conencting the webcam and then connecting when prompted DID stop the system from automatically downloading the files, but did not help with my cause in the end. Webcam is installed properly and recognized, microphone is working fine, but no video.

I tried it on a laptop as well and it worked perfectly there.

Any more suggestions, anyone ?

Later edit 2: I accessed the Webcam/Mic feature in Microsoft silverlight and it seems the Webcam is recognzied and video/mic works perfectly in Silverlight. But thats the only software where i works.

Than keep trying.

I have 2 such cams running separately as mentioned earlier flawlessly.

Good Luck!

Thank you. I am starting to think the problem is with the fac t that my sistem is 64-bit. It seems many people that have problems with Logitech webcams are all, or msotly all, sporting x-64 versions.

I know, mate, I got the 64 bit version from the beginning, no problem there. logitech seems to think there is nothing wrong with the 64 bit version, but either there is a problem on my end or there is a problem on their 64 bit drivers and they just refuse to acknowledge it.

i'm running out of ideas here.
