Need advice on new printer to buy

Hi guys im looking to buy a new printer but have very little knowledge when it comes to printers. I has a lexmark which i bought very long ago and it is very bad and won't work on windows 7. I don't mind spending about 70 pounds at most on the printer but looking for a lower price ofcourse.

    Any advice is welcome.
    Thank you

I own (ed) a variety of makes. I found that Canon printers are the best in terms of use and quality. And if you get one with 4 or 6 independent ink cartridges, the ink will be easy on the budget too (plus there are a lot of OEM alternatives at lower prices). Lexmark is no good and HP has high price cartridges. The one to really, really stay away from is Brother - bad news. I had a fight with them for 18 months (nothing worked) and they finally took it back and refunded 30% of the original purchase price of €340. Compare that to Canon who replaced an expensive photo printer (was tearing up the paper) after 2 years - without discussion. There was no charge, they even paid for shipping the defunct printer back.

Although not a £70 printer i thoroughly reccomend the Kodak esp7(£179) . ink carts are relatively cheap at about £15 for colour . i believe there is a cheaper wifi less model

If you don't need color, bite the bullet and get a Samsung or Brother cheap laser printer. They can be had in the US on sale for as little as 60 dollars frequently. That gets you off the ink cartridge merry-go-round just like an electric shaver will get you off the razor blade scam.

Thank You guys for those advices. I'm afraid that kodak esp7 is way out of range for my price budget. Before posting this i was thinking to myself after a bit of googling that it would be between HP or Canon.

It will need to be a colour printer but i'm unsure of what model to get( forwhichever brand i choose or that you guys recommened) This is mainly because i don't know what are good specs for a printer or what to look out for in a printer. Also the other thing which i completely forgot to ask help on was cartridges. As you had mentioned that HP ones are expensive( how expensive are they? ) So if you guys have pointer on those things too that would be awesome.
