Is my USB 3.0 Drive really connected to USB 3.0 port?
I just purchased my first USB 3.0 drive. It has the blue bar in connector of the USB cable. I have plugged it into a USB port that also has the blue bar in the port. And then I boot the computer, and a message pops up that I would get faster speed if it was connected to a Super Speed port. Searching the internet, I find that "super speed" means USB 3.0, leading me to believe that somehow, that the device is not using USB 3.0, even though I have double-checked that the port has the blue bar, and also checked the motherboard docs to see where the USB 3.0 ports are (and that I am using the proper USB 3.0 port).
So more searching of the Internet. I see some people recommend a utility called USB Tree Viewer. This also seems to indicate my drive is not Super Speed; or is not connected to a USB 3.0 port.
What else do you suggest to resolve this issue? How can I confirm that I am getting the benefits of USB 3.0 here?
