Which card for a dual screen setup?

Hello, thanks for looking at my post.

    I was just wondering which would be better for a dual screen setup? a R9 270X 4GB or a R9 280X 3GB?

    Thanks for your time.

whats your purpose of 2 screens? gaming, or just general use? if gaming, are you gaming on both monitors?

personally, i dont like the 280x... drivers are terrible. i would go with a gtx 770 or 780 if budget allows.

Both really. I wouldn't mind not using the second screen for some games because I'm only gonna be using it mainly for my consoles, but I'd like to use it with my PC because I may as well.

The 770 is way out of my price range, the max I could spend is like £180.

If you can afford the R9 280X then get that. It's a faster, more capable card. The only areas where it loses to the 270X is in anti-aliasing and it has higher power consumption (which is understandable). The 270X is a little better in that regard, but for over all performance, the 280X is better.

Here's an interesting review of the two cards compared (as made by ASUS):

So will the extra video buffer not help as much as the extra raw power?

The extra raw power translates as more FPS when gaming. There's nothing wrong with having more graphics memory, but when it comes down to it, more "horsepower" in the GPU's engine can't hurt.

Not that the 270X is a slouch on performance, it's just that the 280X will outperform it, IMHO.

Thanks, I'll get the 280X if I can afford it when it comes to buy it.
Also, I can't seem to give you any reputation, thanks for the help though.
