Ok thanks for the help.Oh. If this is a case where the screen turns black for just a few seconds, but starts up normally otherwise, then that could be something you might ignore.
If this is a case where the system is freezing with a black screen and will not start into Windows, that is another matter entirely.
You can download current drivers for free from the display company that makes your graphics chip from their website. nVidia or AMD. You can search for and find older drivers too.

Windows has a built in graphics driver that will work on most PCs. There is little danger of breaking anything - you just may cause yourself more work, if anything. Many people have done this procedure without incident.
