    1tb hard drive shows unallocated & shows error cyclic redundancy error


    Hello,
    My toshiba extrnl 1tb hard disk changed to raw aftr abrupt power cut whn drive was cnnectd to pc. After sum research tried method of test disk on win 7. I followd the procedure and writed partion. But aftr rebootng nw disk changed to unallocated. I tried initializing disk to mbr but it shows cyclic redundancy chck error. And also whn i run test disk nw. It show partion read error. I backdup my data frm drive nw. But also dnt want to lose my drive.
    I treid all, chkdsk also but drive dosnt have drive path lettr so i cant run chksdk mthd also. I also use 3rd party app to rebuild mbr bt it aso faild.
    Plz can u suggest, wat can i do to save my drive.

    Hello and welcome Kishor now I have gut feeling that drive night have been damaged by the sudden power failure it could have affected the platters themselves or the controller unit.
    Now I think you need to test the drive using this SeaTools for Windows | Seagate or a purely physical surface test see this Best Free Partition Manager Freeware and free partition magic for Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Vista and Windows XP 32 bit & 64 bit. MiniTool Free Partition Manager Software Home Edition. run it and see my pic on how to set that up. It tests the actual surface of the platters and to some extent the ability of the read / write heads.

    Kishor mate a shot of your Disk Management would be good.

    Start > right click Computer > left click Manage > and Computer management will come up it is a better short cut mate.
