USB keyboard and mouse stop working in windows, but not Ubuntu.

My USB keyboard, mouse, and headset stopped working at first until i restarted, and then restarts took longer, and than the mouse and keyboard wont work at all after numerous boots into windows. I have mouse keys enabled and a PS/2 keyboard so I was/am able to navigate to try and fix things in windows, but its a pain. Oddly my USB wifi antenna (plugged into the top) works fine, but my headset plugged into the back does not work. I have tried plugging my mouse and such into the front, but that does not work either. I have tried a hundred and one things, and for a few days they worked (until an update) and i am at this point of making a thread rather than reading a hundred. I have already tried several different restore points to no avail, and I did not back up an older one from before (big mistake). I believe my system specs are on my profile but if you need them I will reply with them as soon as I can. I hope you can help me to fix it or i may have to take it into the repair shop . Thanks in advance -Justin

Did you do something that triggered this or can you remember any specific event that caused any issues?

When you say it works in Ubuntu but not Windows, is this the same computer?

If its not the same computer, does the mouse/keyboard work when you plug it in to the USB port containing your wifi dongle?

Assuming this isn't a USB problem, try to uninstall your mouse/keyboard drivers and reinstall them

I don't remember doing anything specific to stop them from working, and yes i am running Ubuntu on the same computer using a boot DVD( i use it to scan for viruses and such) i have not tried plugging the mouse into the port that works with the antenna. I remember trying to re-install the driver for the mouse and keyboard but they were not showing up or something like that, but I am going to try both and reply when I am done.

turns out that my whole driver for my mouse is gone and under keyboards all i have is the PS/2 one i have plugged in. There also seems to be errors under Universal Serial Bus Controllers for all four
Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller. Switching ports doesn't work either (didn't think it would after seeing all my drivers for them are gone...). I will re install them when I get back home, I'm just wondering what removed them, I sure as hell didn't.

I uninstalled all the drivers in error, unplugged my mouse keyboard and anything else USB, and restarted my PC. My drivers for usb installed automatically, plugged in usb items they installed fine, and than i reinstalled antenna driver aswell. Everything is working fine now, but without my ps/2 keyboard i would have been screwed.
PS. for anyone reading this enable mousekeys, its a life saver.

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner but I'm glad you got it fixed!

Feel free to post back if you have anymore issues.
