    Hi balu (mahendra ?)

    Welcome to Seven Forums.

    More details are necessary.

    1. Is it a self-assembled system?

    2. How did you install Windows 7?

    3. Is it a new DVD drive?

As Jumanji says mate an alternative if you are desperate to install and sort it out later is use a USB stick with this
Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

You have still not answered my questions no. 2. and No 3.

    1. And yes , change your Sata cable and power cable as well as try a different SATA port.

    Other things you can do:

    2. Try the suggestions here : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060

    3. Pull out your optical drive and reinstall Windows booting from a USB pen drive. After installing Windows (do not activate till you have groomed and checked for a month. You have thirty days to activate.) connect your optical drive and boot. Check whether your drive is recognised

    4. If it is a new drive, I would also not rule out the possibility of the drive being DOA. Dead On Arrival. ( That is why I asked whether it is a new drive and you didn't answer.) If you had bought it from a brick and mortar store take it there and have it checked.

Enjoy this Balu Mahendra (Cinematography)movie song ♫ What are you listening to? [9] ♫
