    Bad block on harddrive

    Hi,

In Event Viewer I am receiving the following error.....The device\Device\Harddisk1\DR 1, has a bad block
Is there anything I can run besides chkdsk /f? Also, besides taking the laptop apart, is there a way to tell if a laptop has a regular laptop harddrive or an SSD in it? Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Kevin

You have a Think Centre ? ... Do a search with your Model Number .. Look for the Specs that will tell you which Drives you have ..

Then when you know the Model of you Drives .. You can Download Diagnostic Tool s to test ..

Also Lenovo has thier own Software for testing Drives .. It is called Storage Quick Test ..

As i have never used it can not recommend

Control Panel > Device Manager > Disk drives then google for info on your hd, looking for disk maintenance utilities from the particular disk manufacturer.

Generally, any bad block can imply more coming..., evaluate to get a fresh hd, does not cost much these days, and much easier to clone\image the old hd before any real trouble appears!

    Hi Maxie/4wd,

My boss told me to just replace the harddrive instead of trying to troubleshoot it. I appreciate your quick responses & assistance! Have a great day!

    Thanks,
    Kevin

Speaking of bad blocks , when i did a diagnostic test on my brand new Intel SSD it said it had two bad blocks . When i ran the Intel toolkit it detects zero issues and no bad blocks , Intel tech support tried to tell me this was normal , i'm not so sure.
