Windows 7
Code 43 - try this first

I have 2 machines, both running Windows 7 Premium and over the course of a few weeks any time I plugged in an external hard drive I almost always got a message it didn't recognize the device, could preform more efficiently, or stopped working partial way through a transfer. So why both machines at the same time?

I opened the case and gave both machines a blast of canned air, held back to get the dust, not trying to blow it into the next state. I lightly aired out the front panel USB's. It's been 48 hours and have external hard drives in each machine, changing USB connections and all is working well.

Windows 7 x64
Some Important Information

Good day Sirs/Ma'ams,

I have had this problem quite a bit before in the past, its not that the usb ports stop working, its that they cant recognize anything being shoved into them... Basically, i think they're tired of being disrespected... Anyways, I am in firm belief that this is a Microsoft problem, and has been for quite some time now, just dont really know why they arent fixing it -_-

Anyhow, i use windows 7 x64 and ive had this problem with my windows xp service pack 3 as well. Also my friend had this problem with his Windows Vista (thats where i can pretty much pend this error on microsoft). This is where my few shreds of information gets important - and the part where you should have started reading lol (oh well). So my problem was, was that i had a usb cable for my psp (playstation portable) that goes from the psp itself into the computer so that you can transfer files and all that good stuff, well it stopped working by error and usb not recognizing it and all that bad stuff. So, from what ive seen, and everything online, and my experience, i think to fix this problem, you can change out the cords. Basically, if you have another usb cable or another charger cable for say your ipod or many other things that connect to your computer via a usb cable, then use it, as it should work.

Sometimes however, you may not want to use another cord, or maybe you dont have one and have to buy another one. If you're not computer literate, and youre rich, i suggest that you just go buy another cord, and if that doesnt work, then im sorry lol.

Now, a problem that im having now is that my mouse isnt working, and so like, i cant change out cords if the cord is connected to my mouse, that would be absurd. And im not getting rid of this $50 mouse either. So, to fix the problem with things that the cords cannot be changed out on, youre going to have a few options, some of them work for some people (really tricky error).

1. Taking apart your computer can sometimes help fix this error. (open it up and give it a little clean out, take some canned air to it.)

2. Plug it into another usb port (sometimes its a permanent fix, sometimes itll fix for like a few seconds and then not work again lol)

3. Unplugging your power cord from your computer for say about 1 minute, however, just to be safe go ahead and give it a rest for about 5 minutes :) Plug it back in, turn it back on, and hope for the best!

4. Some people have given registry help, as in, you go into your registry of your computer and change some things around to get it to work. Now, you can do it this way, but you have about 1% chance of actually getting it to work, and a 99% chance of completely not being able to turn your computer on after you cut it off that night. Seriously though, even if you are computer literate, the registry is one hardcore device that runs your computer. I've messed with too many things in it, leading to blue screens, computer crashes, glitches, and having to completely restore it.

Other than that, not really sure of much else that can help. If you type your problem in google, it will not help, it will just lead you to other threads and forum sites such as this one. It will also give you information just like i have given you above. However, i have taken the time and courtesy to put all that information into this nice little post. I was about to just exit out, and not think twice when i couldnt find any answers as well, but i decided to put my input and try to get this darn problem fixed.

In my opinion, its almost not fixable because I believe it to be a problem within Windows software, but you can nullify the code 43 error for quite a while. Sometimes it returns, sometimes it doesnt lol. It is truly a strange error. Thanks guys for reading such a long post :) (if you even read it)

From what i've also heard, is that if you're usb device isnt plugged in completely, and is kind of hanging out just a little, or it is dirty in any way, that it may cause this error. So try and prevent it as best as possible :)

Windows 7 64
Code 43 Microsoft USB FIXED - SOLUTION

I just have to post this. I spent hours searching this fix and did everything except a clean install. You won't believe what finally worked for laptop and usb mouse. Microsoft could not find device Code 43.

I finally
-uninstalled mouse software
-re-installed mouse software
-shut down laptop completely, NOT RESTART
-unplug power cord and take BATTERY out for a minute
-put battery back in
-plug mouse in
Then it found drivers fine again and worked.
Also, I was praying a lot. Thank-you JESUS.

Hope this helps someone out there.

Windows 7
Error code #43 possible solution

Hi there.

I too got the #43 error code and my mouse was no longer recognised by the usb?
I use my laptop with the power cord attached most of the time and wondered if the problem was possibly to do with static build up? Here's what I did and it seems to have worked and is possibly why some people have had results by partly following this fix;

1. Disconnect the power source/lead.
2. Take out the battery (if it's a laptop).
3 Press and hold in the power button for 40 seconds to a minute.
4. Press and let go the power button another five or six times.
5. Replace the battery.
6. Connect the power source/lead.
7. Re-start laptop/PC.

Hopefully like mines, your problem will be solved!!

This fix can be used to sort a multitude of problems, even a non responsive system so it's something I try first if I ever have a problem.

It can even be useful if you're having problems with a mobile phone? Just follow the steps above, but on your phone!!

Hope it works for you too?
