    Thumb drive not recognized

I have both a desktop and a laptop running Win7. I use a password manager on my desktop and decided to copy the password manager to a thumb drive to use on the laptop. I copied the folder to the thumb drive and checked it's operation on the desktop and it worked fine. I plugged the thumb drive into my laptop's USB port and the laptop does not recognize it and I get no sound upon inserting. I checked the speaker to be sure it is turned on. I also checked the device manager and it did not show the presence of the thumb drive. What am I overlooking, any suggestions?

Does the Notebook/Laptop have more than 1 USB port and did you try them all? Did you try other devices in the ports? Did you put the USB Thumb/Flash drive back in the Desktop and it worked? Do you have occasion to try the drive in a different computer? Could be something happened to the drive.

I tried it in a second USB port on the laptop and it worked. Why didn't I think of that? DUH. Thank you very much
