WD Sata 160gb HD missing 11Gb!

Where did the 11 gb go?

I had to remove a WD Sata 160 gb sata drive(WD1600BEVT-2) from a laptop to scan it for virii and malware! this lenovo g530 laptop would not even boot from the hard drive! (see pic)

Anyhow I checked the drives with Ontrack Easy Recovery and it reported the drives as 149.05 Gb! where did the other 11gb go? (see pics)

I then used LLF to do a low level format and LLF reported it as as 160.04gb! the actual size of the drive! (see pic)

I then used my favorite reformat, wipe all partition, software Linux Gpart and Gpart reported this WD Sata drive as 149.05gb! Where did the other 11gb go?

Any thoughts suggestions? Did a mystery virus delete this 11gb or mark it as bad? I'm open to any suggestions!

Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1, Windows 8.1 Pro x64, Windows 10 Pro x64

Hard drive manufacturers designate the size of a hard drive in decimal terms 160GB but the operating system sees it in binary terms 149 GB. You are not missing any space.

See this
Drive displays a smaller capacity than the indicated size on the drive label

11GB of storage space lost in under 4 minutes of idle?
I didn't know what other section to ask this in. I have a 60GB SSD as my main OS drive and it floats between 11.55 and 12 gigs of empty space. I don't mind this because everything I want on it is already on it and I don't forsee any permanent changes in the near future. Earlier I stepped away from...
Mis-Alignment on x25m 160GB SSD
After recently doing a DiskPart check on my old standby notebook (with X25-m 160GB SSD for C-drive), I just noticed that the SSD has an offset of 31KB (not “divisible by 4”). Drats! Don't know how that happened with I upgraded to that SSD six months ago. Currently with a Q6600 quad in this...

Missing 2nd (IDE) drive, SATA, weird disc sounds
PC is 4 months old. New custom-build. Primary SATA. Secondary (old) IDE/PATA. This week, I did move my PC from home in Chicago to here in Maryland. Very carefully. No jostling. Packed in original box with foam padding. I was extra-careful. Upon boot today, everything was fine, but I...
