    1150 Socket

Some guy says he has this mobo

    GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1150 - GA-H97-DS3H (rev. 1.0)

    with this CPU

    AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor HDZ965FBGMBOX - Newegg.com

is that even possible. I thought 1150 socket was intel only?

    Nope. Not possible.

The processor only supports being connected to Socket AM3 on a motherboard, and that motherboard only has an Intel 1150 socket.

Yeah, he probably just gave the wrong model number by mistake.

My "guess" is he has the motherboard model number right - because you can see it when looking at the board. But the CPU, if already mounted, is covered by the heatsink fan and would require disassembly, or running system information program like Speccy (from the makers of CCleaner) or CPU-z to determine the CPU model number.

In any case, you cannot use an AMD processor on an Intel board, or Intel CPU on a AMD board.
