I thought the specs for you Motherboard shows a Display Port. Was that wrong?
Jim
I don't know- maybe I'm confused - Yes, it has display port, but I thought I would still need a separate card to achieve the higher resolution.
Isn't that what Dude and Badcrc are telling me?
I think they were referring to the HDMI port being limited but the Display Port looks OK.
Jim
Thanks - I'll get one and hope to see a difference!
Lets up know how it works out. Be sure and check the size of the ports for Standard or Mini.

I just went online and there are people that are having a problem getting it to work.
They say you need an active, not passive connection.
What do they mean and is the HA-DP- 06 what I need?
The ports are standard.
MyCableMart.com
Active adapters are use to run a Display Port to a HDMI-DVI-AVG port and has a chip to supply the proper clock.
Display Port to Display Port should us a straight passive cable. I don't know where you are getting this information but post a link as I am interested in what they are saying.
That HA-DP-06 should be fine.

This is what I was reading. Displayport on a p8z77-v deluxe - Asus - Motherboards
The more I read, the more complicated it gets. LOL
I think I'll just listen to people like yourself on this forum and be done with it!!!!
That Tomshardware forum was talking about using a DP to DVI adapter and that is where the active adapter is used.
When using the same type of ports DP to DP, DVI to DVI and HDMI to HDMI then a regular passive cable is fine. When mixing the type of ports then it gets tricky. Since you are using DP to DP a regular passive cable is what you need.
