enable or unenable mouse to wake computer?

As a side note when I turn off my computer (HP Pavilion p7-1157 cb) the light on the front of the processor goes completely out which I understand means the computer is off and not sleeping.

However, the green light on the front of my monitor (HP 2311x 23-inch LE Monitor) turns to a faint orange color after shutting the computer down. Plus, a bright 'green' light stays on in the back of the processor even when the computer is off.

Any ideas?

Orange light is the Standby mode...which is equal to turned off. No light mean you have switch off the device, equal to unplug from the wall.

The green light is always there in computer Desktop and is the Power Supply keeping enough current in the system for the Bios Clock. No light again, mean you have unplug from the wall.

There's nothing abnormal in there.

If you do not want the receiver to light after turning off the computer then you have make it right to don't allow the mouse to wake computer.

I appreciate your information on the different lights.

As for turning off the Green light on the front of my Mouse Receiver I have tried going into Device Manager > Mice > Power Management > and unclicking "allow device to wake computer" and then shutting down computer.

When the computer shuts down (I utilize a Desktop shortcut I have used for years) the light on the front of the Mouse Receiver goes out until my Monitor puts a message on the screen stating that it is going to sleep. As soon as my Monitor light turns 'orange' the 'green' light on the Mouse Receiver comes back on.

Ha! You have also the Green light of the wireless mouse receiver...Plus one back of the processor (which i answered).

This is not related when monitor turns off, green light receiver turns back on, it shouldn't.

I understand your distress about this receiver green light.
Either you have to manually turn off the mouse with a switch On/Off under the Mouse or one can choose to remove the receiver and plug it back under the Mouse after use, as most of those wireless mouse have a place under it, therefore this will cut off the connection too.

Sorry to butt in. What happens if you use the default method of shutting down your computer, which is Click on Start & select Shut down. Does the mouse light stay on then, if not then it would seem that your shortcut method of shutting down is really just putting the computer to sleep.

If using the default shut down, leaves the mouse light on then short of possibly changing some BIOS settings if they are available, the only way you can stop the mouse light from staying is to turn off the power to the computer at the wall.

Just a quick update to my light problem on my Mouse Receiver.

SOLVED! I remembered I moved my Mouse Receiver to a USB hub a few days back from its original connection directly to my computer. Today I moved it back to connect directly to my computer and everything is back to normal.

The green light on the front of the Mouse receiver goes out when I shut down the computer and comes back on when I restart.

I appreciate all the patience everyone had with me.
