PC will not detect new wireless adapter

I am confused as to why this card is not working. I purchased 3 AC cards for our new router in my apartment *
    Rosewill RNX-AC1200PCE, Dual Band Wireless AC1200 Wi-Fi Wi-Fi Adapter, IEEE 802.11AC IEEE802.11a/b/g/n, Up to 867Mbps(5.0GHz) + 300Mbps(2.4GHz) Wireless Data Rates, USB3.0 Interface,

After receiving the cards, I installed the first one to my PC and at first it did not detect the card in my device manager, but after shutting down, reseating it, and rebooting my PC, the wireless card worked perfectly.

However, on my roommates PC it just will not detect the wireless card. He had a working wireless N adapter card already in his pc that was working. We unplugged it, put in the new card, and installed the drivers for the card.

However, in his device manager there is nothing showing up, and there is no devices in the other devices section. The light on the wireless card is not lit up, and we have tried reinstalling the drivers, reseating the card, and using Windows update just incase...to no avail.

After a few hours of trying to get it to work, I tried using the card on my other roomates PC to see if the card was defective..it works perfectly fine on his.

I am just confused as to why his PC, which already had a wireless adapter that was working in the same slot, wont detect the new one whatsoever (wont even show up in device manager), and still works on my other roomates PC.

The only thing I have yet to try is reformatting his PC. Any theories why this isn't working?
(SOrry for the long post btw)

The only problem I see with your description is that USB3.0 Interface is not mentioned in the description on Rosewill.com - Computer Case, Power Supply, Computer Accessories, Networking, Peripherals. Price, Quality, and Services.[896da13917d944759d73f85c2a27882c].jpg .

Was there some desire for features his wouldn't provide?

One thing with modern computers of the last several years is when installing new cards, memory modules, etc., they have to be shut down and the power cord removed and either the power switch pressed or wait a few minutes for residual power to drain from the motherboard or there will be damage either to the motherboard or the to device/s or both.

Did his adapter work after putting it back?

    Mmm.. couple of things:

If you bought 3 cards and two are working and one is not then the first obvious reason would be a bad card! Have you tried the non-detectable card in one of the PCs that have already detected it's sibling? If you install it in yours and it is not detected then that would ice it - bad card. Send it back and get a new one.

Second, if your friend already had a wireless N card, why did you think he needed a new one? The wireless devices do not need to be the same brand to work. All modern networking devices will work on the same networking protocols and will work just fine if you mix or match brands.
If the new card has added functionality then that is as good a reason as any to upgrade, but wireless-N is wireless-N regardless of who makes the card.
