SSDs don't make any heat. No cooling required.

Yep that's what I've been reading,

I still think I can modify the front of the plastic face to fit the other one in,
But it would be sideways instead of horizontal as usual :/

Sounds like a fun MacGyver project

I just installed a MX100 256GB in my Lenovo Laptop.
Here are my results over at eightforums.

Also specs from Crucial site. I think the write speed is affected by the number of chips used in each size.
With more chips it can spread the write over multiple chips at the same time which is basically a Raid 0.

My Laptop had a 9mm HDD with a mount. My MX100 is a 7mm and came with a small gasket to fit it in the same mount.

Jim, that Lenovo with an A10 for $400 was a good deal. Where did you get that from. I just bought a HP 17" with an A8 and that was $400 also (after $50 MIR).
