    Dell D520 CPU Upgrade


    Hi folks

    I want to upgrade my Dell D520 processor form 1.83 Ghz to 2.00 Ghz or something in this range

    Atm I've upgraded the RAM to 4GB HDD to 500GB. Socket is 479.

    According to Dell that model is a Latitude D520 Notebook/Laptop, somewhat an older model that looks just a bit newer than my Latitude D810.

    Finding a new CPU that will fit may be difficult, used ones may be problematic. And the BIOS may need an upgrade so as to support it, plug the Service Tag number in at Dell Support to check availability.

    You're welcome. I should have added that performance-wise there may not be a noticeable improvement with going from 1.83GHz to 2.00GHz.
