    Bought wrong RAM, now what?

Hi, I bought the wrong RAM 4GB DDR3 Memory RAM for Lenovo B series B570 at Amazon.com and I was wondering if it would be compatible with my laptop. I know it's 4gb of ram and I have 4gb of ram. I don't exactly know if it's the wrong RAM or not but please help me! It's saying it shipped and I don't know if I can cancel it. I wanna know if it will be compatible or not

From what you describe in your system specs it's not the same and you might have issues using it. Always try to have the RAM modules from the same manufacturer with the same specs and if your existing RAM is like you describe in your system specs then what you ordered is not the same and try to ask Amazon if possible to cancel it or exchange it to the same as what you already have but make sure 1st your motherboard can handle 8GB or RAM

Download Speccy and it will tell you what you have Download Speccy 1.26.698 - FileHippo.com. In your "My System Specs" in your profile it lists Samsung PC3-10600 Ram

According to this seller of memory modules, your B570 can accept up to 8GB total RAM. The RAM that normally ships with the B570 is rated as DDR3-1333 or PC3-10600.

    Lenovo B570 RAM

The RAM you bought from Amazon is DDR3-1066 or PC3-8500. Since this RAM is slightly "slower" than 1333/10600, your computer should be backwards compatible and automatically adjust for the slower RAM. If you want optimum performance from your computer, the RAM should match. But I doubt you'll really notice a speed difference.

My personal opinion, but there are a lot of variables involved and the best way to find out is to test it with MemTest86 - Offical Site of the x86 Memory Testing Tool

Years ago RAM was almost always a hit or miss thing when it came to compatibility. Quality control among name brands is much tighter now due to better technology. If it were me I would do one of the following:

    1) Return the RAM unopened and try again.

    -or-

    2) Run memtest86 with the old RAM only, then run it again with the new module in there. If it passes the second test I'd quit worrying about it. :)
