It needs to by GPT to see all 3 TB.

How did you do this switching back and forth from MBR to GPT??

Stay away from dynamic disks at all costs. Just say no if they are ever offered.

What is this disk's purpose? Data only? OS? Data and OS?

Do you want just a single partition on it?

What motherboard make, model, and BIOS do you have?

    Hi there bobsmashu!

Please provide the information to the questions which @ignatzatsonic asked! Especially, if your motherboard has UEFI.
For hard drives over 2.19 TB you need Windows Vista or later, 64 bit.
You'll need to convert the drive to GPT from the Computer Management after you hook the drive up correctly. Make sure your chipset is up to date.
Then you partition and format it in NTFS.

This should work, as it's standard procedure for such a large drive.
Are you sure you haven't received a fake drive?

    Hope this helps!

I don't know much about AMD stuff, but that appears to be an old Gigabyte board that uses DDR2.

I say Gigabyte because that's what comes up when I google that model number. I have no idea if Nvidia now makes or ever made motherboards.

The newest BIOS is from 2010. It might not help as the Gigabyte notes to the BIOS don't say anything about it improving anything hard drive related. So you may be stuck back in the 2006 era, which isn't likely to be pretty with a 3 TB drive.

I'm not sure what you can expect from it regarding usable hard drive space. The Newegg drive should be legit.
