Dell T3500 - Power Save Mode Issue Company Wide

    Hey Guys,

I've read up some about it but the basic, "is it the monitor, keyboard, mouse?" answer aren't doing the trick. We've swapped out cables, monitors, changed power settings, nothing has worked. I'm on the brink of changing out the video card, and we'll see if that helps, but I believe one of my co workers tried this before and it still kept happening. Memory isn't an issue, these are all freshly imaged machines, they use the same image as all the other ones, and it's only about 20-30 out of maybe 100+ machines we have on hand. We are slowly upgrading to 3600/3610's, which we haven't seen this problem with, but I'm VERY interested in why this is happening. It's very random, so it's hard to get a dell tech support person on the phone when it happens, but even bringing up the issue, no one has an answer and you can tell they are just reading off of a script.

If you've had any issue similar, know of a fix, have something I can try, let me know, thanks guys.

What is the 'power save issue' in question?

Can applicable power saving mode(s) simply be disabled? (Certainly preferable to a system malfunctioning every time it is awakened from some sort of suspend/power saving mode)

It doesn't appear to be going to sleep.

Users would be working on there machine, no specific application, and the monitor would go black, but the CPU is on. The keyboard does not respond, mouse does not respond, you cannot ping it or VNC into it. It seems like it just shuts down but the power is still on.

Have you posted this on the Dell desktop hardware forum? That would be the best place to start. There are some Dell employees on there but most are users that are familiar with Dell products and help with problems daily. The "Rockstars" (what Dell calls user "experts") also have access to Dell technical personnel, that regular customers do not have.

    Hey Fireberd,

No I have not, every time I speak to Dell's support chat or call, they give me the same scripted answers and aren't much help. I was hoping to go around that and possibly seeing someone with the same issue who found a solution here. I haven't posted on the board there, so maybe I'll try that, still hoping someone here can help out. I appreciate you helping me out, thank you!
