Keyboad Shortcut Problem

Hey all!

Have a really strange problem I hope you can help with.

Turned on this computer for the first time in a few months and I'm experiencing a problem where pressing the "w" key on the keyboard displays a "launching internet" message on the screen and proceeds to launch explorer, chrome, and windows media viewer in 3 separate windows. I disabled sticky keys and all that jazz, still won't help.

It's making it impossible to use the computer as a few other keys are launching random things too. Anyone know what could cause this? Is there a way to restore my keyboard to default settings?

Any help would be instrumental, thanks!

Hiya!

Thanks for the welcome and reply.

A few things were discovered. Firstly, the OS is actually Vista 64 bit. I have quite a few computers in the house, must have confused it for another one. My apologies for posting on a 7 forum.

Secondly, your advice helped. I took out the HP keyboard and put in a Logitech G-510 and it was perfectly fine. Obviously this means it was a keyboard problem and not a OS problem.

The issue is fixed for now, but I would still love to know what's wrong with the other keyboard. I'll check the HP forums.

Thanks a bunch!

7 and vista are generally the same. Vista just sucks... :)

As far as your keyboard, make sure you don't have any keys that are stuck. If possible clean it out and test again. Test it on a different PC as well.
