[QUOTE=Golden;2962444]Thanks, Golden. This is the blog post I referred to which has additional instructions. I'll review both and see if I can "get" it.
How to collect a good boot trace on Windows 7 - Dude where's my PFE? - Site Home - TechNet Blogs
Yeah, I'm working with chamlin to get a good boot trace with disablepagingexecutive set to 1 so I can drill into the boot trace and determine root cause. As long as there isn't any personal exposure to him I might be able to make this into a learning experience via a blog post too.
Its a pity Cluberti doesn't visit anymore....I stand to be corrected, but I think he actually wrote the boottrace tool
xbootmgr? Nah, that's not Carls work per se, but he and I and some other Premier Field Engineers from Microsoft used the WPT as far back as doing traces on XP and 2003 systems. Limited value/high risk of collection (never do +DRIVERS for instance).
So we helped spread the news externally to some extent.
Yep, Skype just about daily. I'll point out this thread to him tonight. He's been shifting focus technology wise the last year, might be why he doesn't come around, dunno.
I'm alive, I swear. Just busy moving across the country and doing new things with old people. I generally still get emails about PMs though, so that always works if you can't find me. Jeff can handle it too for what it's worth .
Man, I'm in pretty good hands here, between all of you. I just got the Windows Performance Toolkit downloaded. Took a long time as it wouldn't install properly because of the issues with it installing an older version of Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x64 and x86 Redistributables, but once I uninstalled the newer ones, it worked. On to the next instruction.
