    Device manager: odd behavior

On one of my 2 PCs Device Manager opens with the "Sound, video, and game controllers" list expanded. This is a very minor annoyance, but I'd like to change it if I can. Three sound devices are displayed, and I've got two of them disabled. Does that cause the list to automatically expand?

I've seen it do that, especially if one didn't have the yellow triangle on it.

A question, is one of the sound devices associated with the onboard/built-in sound? If so and it's not used I'd sure disable it in the BIOS, keep Windows from knowing about it.

No yellow triangle so your explanation applies.

One of the disabled devices is the onboard sound. I kept it enabled in BIOS so I could rapidly switch from my sound card to the onboard sound if necessary. But I haven't needed to do that for over a year, so maybe it's time to disable it in BIOS.

The other disabled sound device is labeled Intel Display Sound. I think that means it's actually part of my seems to be Intel (onboard) graphics adapter. That's something I have never, and will never use. Maybe there's some way to disable that in BIOS, too.
