Hdd light on my computer keep's shutting off than my computer freezes

Hi, there is a red light next to my power button that blink's alot & i believe it's called the hdd light. No matter what i'm doing it shut's off after awhile & than my computer freeze's & i don't know why. Everything work's fine into that happen's & it's alway's random. I only had this computer for 2 years & i built it myself & this problem just started 2 days ago i also did memtest but it partially freeze's meaning the upper right corner isn't moving but the mid right corner still has number''s moving. This is my system specs

    geforce gtx 660
    intel core i5-3570k
    corsair cx 600
    ASRock Z77 Extreme4
    Onboard gpu intel (R) 4000

The hdd light should only light while the disk is being read or written to. It is normal for the hdd light to not be on all the time.

Since you say the system "partially" freezes during a memtest, I would like to understand more about that. Can you post a screenshot of what you are seeing when it's partially frozen?

I can't take pic because even though it doesn't freeze all the way it still won't let me do anything. I don't know if there is another way to take the pic that doesn't have to do with the computer but i can't take one on the computer because it still freeze's.What i mean by the light shut's down is it will stay solid for abit than it will start blinking & than it will stop blinking & the light won't come on than the computer freeze's.
