Macros in gaming mice: which mice have the best?

My problem: I have but one hand, & certain things just need two. I had found a solution in the Kensington Turboball + Mouseworks software, but Kensington dropped the features I loved when it replaced Mouseworks with trackball works, Mouseworks is incompatible with anything newer than xP.

Some things such as CTRL+CLICK would be really nice to have. I have found click boxes in W7's Windows Explorer, & this helps, but for selecting a range of items, then a few scattered ones is all but impossible. Also, Mouseworks had programming profiles for different programs, so one button had a different function in different programs. I now use LOGITECH WIRELESS TRACKMAN, which has 8 programmable buttons, but they do the same thing in every program, & no keyboard+click combos.

While I do intend to continue using the trackball, a gaming mouse would help with those tasks. I know about AUTOHOTKEY, but lack the patience to figure out how to use it.

Logitech. My G700s has all of those features in its software suit. Three switchable profiles and application based profiles which also have three switchable profiles themselves. All part of their central game software.

Thanks, logicearth. So, do those feature work with games only, or any programs? I have viewed the Logitech pages for gaming mice, but I needed answers from users.

Well seeing as I have it setup with a profile for Photoshop. Yes it works for anything and everything. Its simply looks for a running executable to associate the profile with.

Thanks, logicearth. Any chance it will insert text?

I'll just upload images of the Macro Editor so you can see all the functions it has:

For your "CTRL + Left Mouse Click" example, you would use the Multi Key Macro. Record pressing CTRL, then stop the recording, right click and insert your mouse click (in the middle of the CTRL keys of course). Oh, and some delays will be required. between the key presses and the mouse presses.

delays? As long as it will go CTRL 1st then left click, or CTRL+SHIFT then left click.

    Anyway, thanks very much, logicearth!
