How to delete "Unknown Disk 3"

    (The top snapshot below is my Crucial SSD disk) That specific GUID is reserved for the generic MS disk driver. Firebird's registry data shows that same GUID as the driver GUID for his mysterious device
  • It's only the numbers between {} that indicates the driver GUID. The \nnnnn that follow, where nnnn is a different numeric for each device, is a reference to the GUID per device that's using that driver.

So the device driver wouldn't help (as it's generic). One needs to figure out the parent devices to try and figure where it's coming from

Its just the stock Microsoft driver. Its identical to the three other installed drives.
I posted a screenshot of the Registry listing for this device. I considered deleting the registry entries for this device to see what happens, but the registry won't let me delete it. The Roland Studio-Capture is not the problem. I have the driver for this installed on a Laptop (for on-site recordings) and the USB device does not show up on that system.

Firebird: again, the info i really want to see is the full DevManView report (saved as Tab Delimited Text) Please run it for me so I can have a look :)

Your snapshots keep showing DevMgr in default view. Have you changed the view and looked for USB Device? (Along the top of DevMgr click View->Device by connection.) It's very possible USB Device will NOT be found under a USB Controller (but still have a look there to double-chec). So expand all the devices and search for it as best as best you can.

It may not be listed under PCI bus either (if it's virtual), so try a look through all the categories displayed.

You don't want to delete it from the registry. Uninstalling the device as you once did will remove that device entry from registry. HOWEVER, based on your prior post, Windows will still detect it's (probably virtual) presence and re-enumerate it again (re installing those registry entries again). So simply deleting that entry is not the solution IMO

What I'm showing from the Device manager IS the device. Its not a hidden device. What I posted from the DevManView report IS the device. What I listed from the Registry IS the device, linked from the DevManView report. The only unknown is where its coming from.

I can post the full report, but the device has been located and listed.

You're a seasoned member of this forum. When you ask for a report - do you want the OP to provide the report or have the OP simply tell you the only things they think matter and you never get to see the actual report, itself

What else can I say? I shouldn't have to explain everything data item I look for and why its important to get an answer. And I don't guarantee I'll even see anything else. You're most welcome to add your own take on the data but I still need to see info i request.

I've given you all the information. Nothing else to give you but you want more so I closed the thread.

This is my recording studio production system. The device does not interfere with recording operations so I'll leave it as is.
