usb 2.0 drive not detected in win7 laptop but show in other computers

Hi there, So I have a WD essential external disk that connects to my lenovo laptop T61 running win7 via usb 2.0. It was working well and recently I do not see the external disk. I connect the disk to my other laptop and it shows up. So I wonder its the problem with T61. I want the drive to work with this T61 as it now serves as a server for the home so I need the disk connected to it.

I tried couple things without a fix:
    - Restart: not work
    - Check disk manager: the WD disk is not in it.
    - driver update: WD essential does not have a driver to download from WD website
    - usb compatibility: I do remember my wife installed an logitech camera C910 via usb 3.0, and found it other post that usb 3.0 may affect it. I unplug the usb camera and it does not help. I can try to uninstal the usb 3.0 driver but do not know which one is it from the device manager.

Please help me with this problem. Thank you!

Install the latest update from windows update, backup the data on the disk and wipe it. That might fix it.
