    UEFI = faster boot?

    Hi

    My new motherboard supports UEFI (which I never used before). It also has some fancy new features like fast boot.

    Do you think switching to UEFI would get me even faster boot times/performance?

    Motherboard is MSI AM1i

    You can`t switch to UEFI after an install, windows has to be installed in UEFI.

    Yes I'm aware. But let's say if I reinstall Windows and switch to UEFI mode. Would it be any faster?

    No. You will never see a fast bootup on a hard drive.

    You want faster performance ?

    Install windows an a solid state drive.

    The only way is to try.

    Create a disk image of windows before you attempt anything.

    Fast Boot is not new to UEFI systems.
    It simply skips the posting on screen of the BIOS/UEFI routine. It will speed up your BIOS boot time by a second or two.

    It will not affect your Windows start up time at all. Nor will UEFI.
