can't access thumb drive in Windows 7 Pro

I have some files I'd like to copy to my Windows 7 Pro computer. They are on a thumb drive and the files were made on a Home Premium computer. When I insert the thumb drive, the computer sees the drive and assigns it a letter but tells me there are no files on it

can you try another computer to see if it will show you the files? or is it just this computer?

Copy the files to the home premium or macbook (or both), reformat the thumb on the win 7 pro machine using FAT32 format, then copy the files onto the newly formatted thumb drive from either the home premium or macbook. You should be able to read the files on your pro system. Only hitch is if the files are bigger than 2Gb or the thumb drive is bigger than 4Tb (I think). Stuff on thumb drives is supposed to be non-volatile, but it isn't.

Found out what it was. I had "hotplug" disabled in the BIOS for the SSD. I enabled it and now I can see the files.
