    PC Monitor on, Screen black!

    Hello everyone!

I have a problem with my computer's monitor.
It's light is on and it seems to work but the screen stays black.
Sometimes, when I connect it, for some seconds I can get picture but the brightness is so low and the screen seems like flickering.

Changed three vga cables, tested on two laptops and my pc and still the same.
I also tried connecting the laptop with my flat screen with a hdmi cable and also on this monitor with a vga.
I chose to get picture on the tv and the monitor.Unexpectedly that worked and the screen stayed on but the problem with the brightness and the flickering wasn't fixed.

So I came to the conclusion that it's a hardware problem.
But I don't know what exactly causes the problem.
    My monitor is ViewSonic VA1703wb.

    Thanks for reading.
    Any help appreciated!

We run off Viewsonic monitors at my work. They tend to have random problems. We have 22" monitor that was working fine, unplugged, moved to a different room and now it's tint is purplish and it won't go away. I'm pretty sure your problem is a hardware issue. If it's under warranty contact viewsonic and get it replaced.

    Thanks for your reply!
Yes I think so too and I am trying to find what causes the problem.
And you are right. It appears purplish in low brightness. And no I don't have a warranty because it's an old screen bought back in 2007.
I guess I have to give up on it.
    Anyway thanks for your time!

Yeah, drivers are up to date. I guess I should close this thread.
Of course I'll break it.! At least I get some satisfaction.
    Thanks everyone for your replies!
