Can't replace internal d>drive
Hello everyone...I have a older system with win 7 pro 64 bit upgraded from xp pro. I have 2 internal drives C and D drives. I was prompted by windows to back-up and replace d>drive because it was failing. This is were my problem lies.
For whatever reason there is a folder on this drive titled windows and it appears to be a copy of the operating system. I can't delete this folder or format the drive to get rid of it. I spoke to the techs at western digital and he told me that i would have to load the operating system on this new d> drive in order for it to work....So i installed the new drive in the computer and then i get the black screen telling to change the booth sequence which I do...........then put disk ( I assume it means the O/S) in drive and then press any key........I hear it spin up and after that nothing happens, nothing at all....Can anyone please help me with this, it been almost 2 weeks trying to fix this problem?
Because of this I also have tried to create a system image to my external drive which is NG too! The backup is trying to make me back-up both c and d> drives which I don't really need to do, just need the image of the c>drive but can't unchecked the box for the d>drive. The end result after about 5 attempts is a bunch of errors concerning the folder (0x80780034) for this back-up...I honestly think it has something to do with the d>drive..
Once again if anyone can help, a big thanks in advance............Jim
