I got one mouse installed to work in the default settings. I did a Windows 7 update and install the Windows 7 update for the Logitech mouse.
I'm unable to get the Logitech Set Point 64bit .exe to do any thing after waiting about 5min it will not open so I can install it.
What the hell I'm I doing wrong??
Hi Layback Bear. Did you buy the Logitech M570 mouse?. I tried the download a little while ago & it worked OK. Perhaps you could try another download. The Logitech download site I used is.

Then click the little arrow shown in the Smart Installer slot & select the 64 bit version. The download is about 78 mb so it's quite large.
The Logitech software installation file is shown in my Downloads folder as.

I had the same problem. Somewhere on the web, I found some instructions. I can't remember if I did this with the "smart" or the 64 bit version, but I guess you could try one or t'other. So, kill all other applications. Stop MS mouse and kb center, if it's running. Make sure no vestigial processes from Logitech are running. Then open a cmd window as admin, cd over to your download folder, and run the install process (I want to say I used the smart version after all, but...? If it doesn't work, try the 64 bit version). Not only does SP install, but also the unifying software.
But once SP installs, that sets up another somewhere during the install, you are instructed to turn the mouse power off and on. This is to pair the dongle and the mouse. In my case, they were already paired. In this situation, you have an option to do "advanced options". Try that. It should list your mouse already hooked up. You can unpair that mouse, and should do so. Then, get out of advanced, and proceed. Now, when you are instructed to turn the mouse off and on, the software pairs things, senses success, and declares you a winner.
After the trauma of an install process written by folks with less attention to detail than they should have, I had no problems.

Just got both mice install.
They both work.
I did notice their buttons are more touchy that the M/S mice.
Very smooth to use and precise.
Installing Set Point on the second computer went like a breeze
Downloaded and install the Windows Update for the mouse and it also went well.
Going to take a little getting use to because they are very touchy.
Shouldn't take long.
They are just the right size.
So far I chose the proper mice.

Are you really a big ol bear? That is, do you have big paws? I do, and wonder if your experience predicts what I would find. I'm wondering if its worth it to test an M705 out.

PS Did the SP software finally install like it should, or did you have to resort to the cmd/admin ruse?
The older PC I (Home Premium/64) had to unlock the program and use Windows 7 troubleshooter to fix the problem.
On the newer computer (in my specs) just downloaded and installed with no problems.
I'm a small person and the mouse is the proper size so it doesn't put strange angles on my wrist to cause pain.
These mice are very comfortable to use.
Thanks. I may give it a try anyway. The Performance MX, ideal in size, has a design spoiled by too many gratuitous feature, including the stupid zoom button that intrudes where my thumb should be. Glad you got this worked out.
BTW, I understand there can be issues in moving back to MS mice. Something about the MS software sensing vestigial Logitech software and not installing. Sigh. I wish companiies would play nice so that their customers benefited.
Logitech does mice right. I use the heck out of my wireless M315 that was purchased 3 years ago, for $9. It still works perfectly. The exterior plastic is a bit worn, but looks pretty good. I only get 6 months use out of one AA alkaline battery. No biggie because I buy 4-packs from Dollar Tree. The little circular "feet" came off the bottom last year, so I replaced them with cellophane tape (the shiny type), and now my mouse slides like butter.

Well, I do really like the unifying concept, and I'm getting used to the logitech "feel" (after six years or so with an MS kb/mouse combo).
I do think that the feel of the mouse in one's hand varies by person. If the performance MX mouse did not have the "zoom" button protruding into the space my thumb would comfortably go, it would be great for me. Because it does (and because I have no use whatsoever for a zoom function), I'm going to continue to search.
One other great feature about some of the Logitech mice is that you can buy replacement feet. Not so for the 315, but you can buy the whole mouse (without a receiver) from ebay for five bucks! And they are "unifying" receivers. I have used an M305 as my "travel mouse" for many years, and I agree - it's worked great. It is rather small for my hand, though.
Hi WizardOfBoz. Yes the unifying receiver is nice! That Scotch tape trick has worked amazingly well for me. Just make sure to use the glossy type. It's durable and slick. At first, the M315 felt a bit too small in my hand, but I'm so used to it now, that I prefer it over full-sized mice.
