    Lockup after resuming from sleep/hibernation Dell Dimension 3000


    Hi,

    I have a Dell Dimension 3000 running 32-bit Windows 7. It started locking up either going into sleep, waking up from sleep, or waking from hibernation. It goes away if I pull out the Geforce GT 610 PCI card that I have installed. Putting the card into another system works fine, and sleep works normally. I am wondering if the motherboard is at fault here as I have just had the graphics card replaced by ZOTAC.

    Specs:
    Dell Dimension 3000
    2 GB RAM
    3 GHz Intel Pentium 4 HT
    80 GB IDE HDD
    IDE CD-RW
    IDE DVD-RW
    Floppy
    Intel 537 PCI Modem

    I have unhooked and disabled the floppy and two optical drives, but the problems continue. I also tried to boot Ubuntu live, but it would not start, until the graphics card was pulled.

    Windows has also been reinstalled.

    Any ideas?

    Hello and welcome Goldfish now mate two things have you installed the latest drivers for that GPU? http://www.geforce.com/drivers and you might try running these too

Has anyone tried to install Windows 7 on a dell dimension 3000? Any driver issues, or compatability issues? I am going to do some testing and this is the only test computer I have. It does have 2 gigs of Ram. Thanks.
I hope someone can help. I'm not fully knowledgeable with computers but know the basics. I bought a second hand Dell Dimension 3000 running Windows 7. I have no sound. The drivers are installed in Device Manager (Realtec AC'97), and also (Uniplex Half Modem) both under sound, video controllers....

Does anyone know much about the Dell Dimension 3000? I have run into a problem for about a month now of it restarting itself no matter what OS it is running. It is obviously a hardware problem and not a Windows problem so please don't try to troubleshoot it. Any help will be appreciated. :D Ben
