Hi,

I have WDC WD5000BEVT-22A0RT0 500gb disk and CrystalDiskInfo gives me a warning/caution message
"Reallocated Sector Count,
Current: 200 Worst: 200 Treshold: 140 Raw values 000000000001"
and
"Current Pending Sector Count,
Current: 200 Worst: 200 Treshold: 140 Raw values 000000000007"

HDD regenerator give me a warning
"Attr 7,
Seek Error Rate changed
[100 253 0] -> [200 200 0]

Attr 197
Current Pending Sector Count changed from 4 to 7 sectors

Backup Data Immediately!"

I have made Checkdisk from Windows, LOG file is attached. Can someone tell me what's going on, is this a sign that my hard drive is dying?

Thanks!

It's a sign of declining health, not necessarily imminent death.

Personally, I'd make sure I had my data backed up and I would get another drive.

You could run the WD Data Lifeguard drive test if you want.

If it's under warranty, maybe they will replace it if it fails the tests.

A SMART error about reallocated sector count is definitely not a good sign and may well get worse. Keep an eye on the raw value count to see if it moves up.

I agree with Ignatzsonic. Get that drive backed up immediately and replace it as soon as possible. The drive may last several years or it may die immediately. It definitely is on the way out, however. If it is still under warranty, WD is pretty good about replacing them.

Hi there.

Yes, but just in case can you run a test with WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostics as well to see if the program will confirm these results as well? You can download it from here:
