Windows 7: Canon MX310 Printer window scan prompt missing

Canon MX310 Printer window scan prompt missing

I have a Canon MX310 printer, scanner, fax. It no longer has the prompt to scan when I double click the printer image in the hardware and sound file under view devices and printers. This happened once before and reloading the disk that came with the printer fixed it however my moronic brother helped himself to that CD and left it in the car on a hot day so it no longer reads. Im using a Asus laptop G73JW with an i7 processor and 8GB of Ram.

As you can see from the screen shots. The first one shows the printer installed and the second pix shows the window that opens when I double click the printer image. It use to have a prompt there that allowed me to scan but that prompt is no longer there. It scans fine when I push the button on the printer only I want to read it in windows not scan it to print.

NOTE THIS - THE DOWNLOAD FROM CANON FOR THIS PRINTER DOES "NOT" FIX OR HELP THIS PROBLEM. I have tried that download umpteen times, So please don't tell me to go there and download it. I have written to canon and they no longer have the original software that came with the printer. If someone has that CD I'd love to get a clone of it. THX!

Secondly, my windows 7 64bit OS will no longer complete the backup process. Any help in that regard would be appreciated.

Hey I found the driver add on that goes with the incomplete driver download you get from canon USA. Here's the link if anyone is interested. It's the "Canon Inkjet Printer Driver Add-On Module".
