If my rig is capable to cooperate with SSD

Hi guys, i got quite aged pc specs:
    intel core 2 duo e7400 2,8 oc @3.8
    MOBO GA PE43 S3L
    6GB RAM 2x dual channel (2x2GB i 2x1GB)
    GF9800 GT

I was wondering if changing my hdd barracuda on any kind of SSD would at least maintain my performance, not thinking about boosting it. I mean stuff like fps drops and so on. Would it work in any possible way with my PC ? If yes can someone reccomend me some SSD ? Only thing i know is to be aware of IOPS stat of a SSD disk am I right ? Thanks in advance! cheers

I don't game, but as far as I know an SSD will only improve game loading times and isn't likely to have much effect on gaming performance or fps.

You are being held back by your video card and CPU.
