    Motherboard and Processor question

    Hey guys

Ok so currently i have a "MSI H55M-E23(MS-7636) 3.0" Motherboard and a "Intel CORE i3 540 (socket 1156 LGA)" Processor.

Motherboard link : MSI Global - The best gaming gears maker in the world
    Processor link : ARK | Intel® Coreā

Now i wanted to ask you guys if i should maybe upgrade to this one, since i can“t upgrade my RAM to 8GB on my current Motherboard, seems as my Motherboard is to old and wont support a BIOS upgrade that i need to be able to run 8GB RAM.
Eventually i could run 8Gb RAM but only on 1333MHz,tried 1600MHz and that wont run.
In my country a 8GB RAM 1333MHz is very very hard to find.

The one i wanted to get ˇ (This one would be for free, because i am selling my old graphic card and it would be a exchange for it)

    Motherboard link : GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket AM2 - GA-MA69VM-S2 (rev. 1.0)
    Processor link : AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Brisbane Dual-Core 2.3GHz Socket AM2 65W ADO4400IAA5DO Processor - Newegg.com

    Thanks :)

That board and CPU you are looking at would be a major downgrade from what you currently have.

As far as the 1600 MHz RAM not working, just run it 1333 MHz as that is the max your CPU supports.

Mmmmm thought so but always good to ask for a better insight since i“m not that good with motherboards etc...

What do you think about these 2,as far as i have seen they should be much better?

    1

    Motherboard : Motherboards | M5A78L-M LX V2 | ASUS Global
Processor : AMD Phenom II QUAD Core x4 b50, 4x3.3GHz

or 2nd option then would be...

    Motherboard : GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1366 - GA-EX58-DS4 (rev. 1.0)
    Processor : ARK | Intel® Coreā

The first combo is a side-grade at best. The second would be a nice upgrade except for one thing, it has long since been superseded by both newer CPU's and motherboards and basically throwing money away.

If all this is just to be able to run 8 GB of 1600 MHz ram, just run the 8 GB at 1333 on your current system. You won't even notice a difference in the two speeds outside of a few benchmark programs; in every day use there is now difference.
